We have presented this album in two forms (2 Discs): Solo Piano, and Solo Piano with Orchestra. The Solo Piano version is simple and elegant, and perfect for calming at bedtime. The Orchestrated version is for those who like a little more to listen to...and is how we feel our music should be experienced. We are excited to share samples with you, from The Lullaby Album, which will be released mid-July 2009. You will find two seperate players below with the respective discs. |

| 1 - Brahms Lullaby | |
Music by Johannes Brahms, Arranged by Jennifer Thomas |

This is probably one of the most recognizable lullabies on the album, and it was one of the first songs that I started to play for my son when he was a sleepless newborn. The lyrics are: Lullaby, and good night, with roses bedight, Sleepyhead, close your eyes, Mother's right here beside you.
I'll protect you from harm, you will wake in my arms. Guardian angels are near, so sleep with no fear, So sleep on with no fear. |

| 2 - Sweet Dreams | |
| Music and Lyrics by Carolyn Southworth | |
| Background vocals by Lori Cunningham | |

This was the first song that I wrote for this album. I wanted to write a song that was simple and easy enough for a mother to sing to her child. I sang this song to my grandson during the creation of the album, and it worked perfectly! Softly the light fades ending the day. |

| 3 - Baby of Mine (Preston's Song) | |
| Music by Jennifer Thomas | |
| © 2009 Tickled Ivory Music (ASCAP) | |
The melody to this song would play over and over in my head, and I would actually hum it to Preston as I rocked him to sleep at night. I eventually sat down at the piano and created a full arrangement of it. I refer to it as Preston's Song because I remember one night in particular, he had a rough time going to sleep, so I laid him in his swing next to the piano as I played. He was so calm and peaceful - and was just watching me. Slowly, ever so slowly, his eyes closed and he went to sleep. It was a very special moment for me, to see that the music I was writing for him really was working in getting him to sleep. I really felt like that song was his. The song, to me, feels a bit more dramatic in nature compared to the typical lullaby. But the emotions behind this song were very much tied to the love I had for my newborn son - which as you know are a very strong emotion. That is how I felt, and just how the song ended up coming out. |

| 4 - All the Pretty Little Horses | |
| Music - Appalachian Folk Tune, Arranged by Carolyn Southworth | |
| © 2009 Heron's Point Music (BMI) | |
I have loved the melody of this lullaby for as long as I can remember. The lyrics of the lullaby are that of a slave mother singing to her child. She had to take care of her master's child, while her own child cried for his mother. The original lyrics were rather gruesome, but over the years they were changed to a more soothing content.Along with the original melody of this lullaby, I have added a couple of my own melodies to compliment it. Hush-a-bye, don’t you cry, go to sleep my little baby. |

| 5 -Dream Weaver | |
| Music by Carolyn Southworth | |
| Orchestrated by Jace Vek | |
| © 2009 Heron's Point Music (BMI) | |
| This piece was written one evening as I was visualizing a magical and mystical being watching over a child, helping them to sleep. It has a Celtic feel to it just by the nature of the melody, but the added orchestration by Jace Vek adds so much to the Celtic sound. There is an ethereal quality to this piece, which adds to it's emotional pull. It is both comforting and magical...... may we all have a Dream Weaver to spin our sweetest dreams. | |

| 6 - Un Petit Nocturne | |
| Music by Jennifer Thomas | |
| © 2009 Tickled Ivory Music (ASCAP) | |
| I actually have a funny story behind this song. It was originally called "Baby's Dream Waltz", (or "The Dream Waltz", as my Mom preferred it), but the song itself was not written in a waltz time signature. It is in 4/4 common time, and waltzes are in 3/4 time. As you listen to the song, you can hear how dance-like it is and how it could feel very much like a waltz. However, I did not want to be coined niave for not knowing what a true waltz is, and alas the title was changed. To read more Behind the Scenes, click here. | |

| 7 - I Am a Child of God | |
| Music by Mildred Pettit, Arranged by Carolyn Southworth | |
| © Intellectual Reserve, Inc. | |
I first learned this song as a child myself, and later sang it to my own children as I rocked them to sleep. It has a specail place in my heart, and I felt that this lullaby album would not be complete without it. I have tried to give it a soft etheral sound with a boys choir in the background, while the melody is played by the violins throughout. I am a child of God, and He has sent me here, I am a child of God, and so my needs are great, I am a child of God, rich blessings are in store. |

| 8 - Dancing on the Clouds | |
| Music by Jennifer Thomas | |
| © 2009 Tickled Ivory Music (ASCAP) | |
This was one of those songs that just came to me all at once. It was at the end of a long day and I was feeling particularly creative at the piano. I imagined a clear night with a vast starry sky above, shooting stars, and the smell of summertime gardens. I had a hard time keeping this piece "toned down", as I wanted to really expand upon it and rev it up to its full potential. While it is still very dramatic compared to the other lullabies, it is actually as toned down as I could get it. I may, one day, re-do the piece and give it the full cinematic approach I hear in my head that it deserves. To read more Behind the Scenes about the music, click here. |

| 9 - All Through the Night | |
| Music - Welsh Folk Tune, Arranged by Carolyn Southworth | |
| © 2009 Heron's Point Music (BMI) | |
All through the Night is a classic lullaby with a beautiful melody and reasurring lyrics. As I considered different old lullabies to arrange, I kept coming back to this one because of the lyrics....they were tender and sweet....not so with all lullabies. You can feel the love expressed in the words by Sir Harold Bouton in this piece. Sleep my child and peace attend thee, All through the night. While the moon her watch is keeping, All through the night, |

| 10 - Twinkle Twinkle Little Star | |
| Music - French Traditional, Arranged by Jennifer Thomas | |
| Orchestrated by Jace Vek | |
| © 2009 Tickled Ivory Music (ASCAP) | |
When my Mother and I decided to do this album, one of the first things we did was decide which well-known lullabies we wanted to have on the album and who would do the arrangements. I had my heart set on doing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star from the get-go. My original intent was to create a very Mozart-esque arrangement of the piece in homage to the original Mozart variations of the song. Yet, every time I sat down at the piano to compose the arrangement, it ended up sounding very Celtic instead of Classical. I kept telling myself that I couldn't do a Scots-Irish version of Twinkle Twinkle, and yet there it was as plain as day at my very fingertips. Oddly enough, this arrangement turned out to be one of my Mother's favorite pieces out of the ones that I wrote. And of course the orchestrations added by Jace Vek really amped it up to a whole new level. |

| 11 - Old Scottish Lullaby | |
| Music - Scottish Folk Tune, Arranged by Carolyn Southworth | |
| Additional Orchestrations by Jace Vek | |
| © 2009 Heron's Point Music (BMI) | |
| I don't know if there are any lyics for this song or not, but I couldn't find any. I came across this lovely melody on a video played by a harpist. I was so taken aback by the simple, elegant melody, that I had to include it. I have added some of my own melody lines to this simple, peaceful tune. May this beautiful lullaby transport you to the Scottish Highlands beside the glow of embers in the hearth. | |

| 12 - Goodnight, My Angel | |
| Music by Billy Joel, Arranged by Jennifer Thomas | |
| © 1993 Impulsive Music (ASCAP) | |
This was another piece that I had my heart dead set on arranging from the very beginning. Oh how this song stirs me. It has been a part of my life ever since my best friend in 9th grade introduced it to me, afterwhich I went through a huge Billy Joel phase and that is about the only thing I listened to for a long time. I've always found this song to be incredibly sweet and sincere - a father singing a lullaby to his daughter and telling her that if she will remember this song, that she'll always have a part of him in her heart. I wanted to keep this piece true to the Billy Joel nature, but to beautify it more. Read more Behind the Scenes about this piece, click here. |

| 13 - Unseen Angel | |
Music by Carolyn Southworth |
|
| Orchestrated by Jace Vek | |
| © 2009 Heron's Point Music (BMI) | |
There is a special story behind this song. A dear friend of mine had cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital, all the while receiving CPR from her husband and the paramedics. While in a coma, she was put on life support and the doctors did not expect her to recover. But she was attended to by both the "seen angels" who were the doctors, nurses, family and friends, and the "unseen angels" from beyond the veil. She is a walking miracle and has made a full and complete recovery. She attributes her recovery to those seen and unseen angels who were with her the entire time to strengthen and support her. I wrote this song the night that she went into the hospital. I felt the title Unseen Angel was a perfect fit for this song after hearing her experience. The music just seemed to flow that evening, almost like I had unseen angels assisting me in the writing of it. I hope that you can feel the power and the emotion that was present, as you listen to this music. While she was in the coma, her husband played this song for her over and over in the hospital, trying to reach her. In a way, we are the Unseen Angel to our children as we watch over them at night, so this song was perfect to include on this album. May all of us find the comfort and peace that we all are searching for, and may our guardian or unseen angel attend us in all that we do.
