THE ALBUM CONCEPT
Illumination is about light, in its many meanings and symbols.
From the idea that light chases away darkness, good can conquer evil, that it can enlighten the mind, or heal and bring purity – Jennifer’s new album takes the listener on an emotional illuminated journey through the timespan of a single day. Beginning with the very first light of dawn, and ending with the evening stars, each song is not only portrayed to the listener’s audio senses through beautiful fully orchestrated cinematic music, but also through mankind’s one instrument that actually physically captures light – the camera. Jennifer collaborated with her award-winning photographer father, Ron Southworth, to bring the listener eye candy for the visual senses with breathtaking landscape photography from the Pacific Northwest down to the California coastline. For every song on the album, there is a specific piece of fine art photography that accompanies it – as if the music were a soundtrack for the scenery.
This is one album you won’t want to miss out on getting in the physical form so that you can experience not only the great impact of the music, but of the incredible artwork as well.
Illumination will be Jennifer Thomas’ 3rd full album release. This highly anticipated album has been in the works for over 4 years and will be the culmination of much hard work, growth, study, and practice in Jennifer’s musical style and technique. It includes not only many new unreleased original works by Jennifer, but several familiar classics such as Dvorak’s New World Symphony, Satie’s Gymnopedie No. 1, excerpts from Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto, as well as a few new classics like OneRepublic’s Secrets, and Mansell’s Reqiuem For a Dream. Her rendition of Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor (featured on this album as “Toccata and Fugue“) was nominated for “Best Song” in the Classical category of the 2011 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
